London Model Engineering Exhibition, Wembley, Jan. 2003

Apart from the models on the club stands, there did not appear to be a lot on show - plenty of tools if that was what you went for. And worst of all? Not a Hunslet in sight! However, here are a few things that caught my eye:

Right inside the entrance, the combined Polly Model Engineering and Ride on Railways stand.
Just across the way was the Ickenham and District Society of Model Engineers and a rather splendid 5"  De Winton vertical-boilered loco. Built around 1962 by Alan Tyler of the Harrow club, it is now owned by Matthew Byatt. The loco has such a delightful "patina". I guess this is what comes of a loco being 40+ years old and "run".
On the stand of the St Albans & District Model Engineering Society was a 5" Orenstein & Koppel rack loco. I knew of the Ken Swan design for this loco in 7¼", but had never seen a 5" gauge version.
On the Romford Model Engineering Club stand a still to be completed 5" Shay by Terry Carter.

Now why didn't I position myself to avoid that damn sign!

On the Chingford club stand, a 5" Heisler being built by Roy Green (?).
