end 2003, Mulhouse, closure of the French National Railway Museum, Mulhouse. For some time the display area has been found to be too small for all of the exhibits and in addition visitor numbers have been falling. To counteract this, a new display hall is being installed. The fire engine museum (which ahs been attached to the railway museum will be moved to a new location and a new hall erected in its place. The work involved will result in a reduction in the number of exhibits (see Le Train Capitale) and eventually a period of closure. The museum should be open again in time for Easter 2004.
