7¼" gauge in the gardenPhoto galleries

January 2008Surprise, surprise, it turns out that there is a 7¼" gauge railway here in Cambridge. I received an email from the owner to come and visit his line one morning in January 2008. The mainline is about 1000' long and makes for a nice run around their 1.5 acres of land. Grant allowed me to have a drive of his NZR DA-class loco, but has promised me a drive of his 2-6-2 steam loco when it is in steam. It is pretty big as 7¼" gauge locos go and it takes a while to raise steam, so it'll have to wait for another day.

This is one fine looking loco.
