March 2008Whilst visiting Melbourne on holiday I took the opportunity to visit a couple of miniature railways in the area. The Box Hill Miniature Steam Railway is situated around a park in the east suburbs of Melbourne. Open on the third Sunday of the month, this happened to coincide with our visit. It was a swelteringly hot day (39 degrees) - frankly too hot to enjoy the line. I was also not allowed to linger on the platform to photograph the locos which was a bit disappointing. These are some shots I managed to "grab" either whilst on the train or from alongside the line. Unfortunately, (I presume for safety and anti-vandalism reasons) the line is fenced off and you cannot walk around to take photos.
This was a lovely little US-outline 0-4-2
